In the mid 1980’s Michigan’s State Capitol building was due for a major restoration of its interior areas and the electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. IBEW employing electrical contractors were hired to modernize the lighting, power, and security systems while maintaining the historic interior appearance that made Michigan’s capitol one of the greatest state capitol buildings in the nation.
It was quite a challenge to renovate nearly every room inside the Capitol Building without significantly disrupting Michigan’s 110 state representatives, 38 state senators, and the governor while they performed their legislative and administrative duties. NECA contractors employing IBEW skilled trades electricians professionally managed the rebuilding of high voltage electrical distribution systems, the restoration of intricate chandelier light fixtures above the House and Senate chambers, and the installation of energy management and security systems without disturbing the patina that adds so much character to our Capitol Building. Yet another job well-done by the NECA-IBEW team.
